Webinar on the Act to prevent and fight psychological harassment and sexual violence in the workplace (Bill 42)

This Act to prevent and fight psychological harassment and sexual violence in the workplace introduces amendments to several Québec pieces of legislation, such as the Act respecting industrial accidents and occupational diseases (AIAOD), the Act respecting labour standards (ALS), the Act respecting occupational health and safety (AOHS ) and the Labour Code. The changes aim to safeguard workers from psychological harassment and sexual violence in the workplace and in the pursuit of their rights to seek recourse against such behaviour.

An Alternative Path Forward: Restorative Justice in Cases of Gender-Based Violence

As the interest in Restorative Justice (“RJ”) has grown, there has been much debate about whether it would ever be appropriate in cases involving gender-based violence. In recent years, however, many victims of gender-based violence ( have raised concerns about the ways the traditional criminal justice system fails to meet their justice needs – and some have explicitly pushed for alternative models, such as RJ. The Alberta Courts’ Restorative Justice Pilot Project is breaking ground in Canada by allowing for referrals for gender-based violence and sexual violence matters, under certain specific circumstances.
Join the CBA for a timely discussion as it considers a path forward for restorative justice. The Honourable Justice Anna Loparco of the Court of King’s Bench in Alberta will speak about the judiciary’s role in developing and implementing the Alberta Court’s Restorative Justice Pilot Project Framework.
